Bubba’s Crab Stew: Creamy Comfort for Cozy Nights is an irresistible seafood dish that brings warmth and flavor to chilly evenings. This creamy Southern stew combines fresh crab meat with a medley of hearty vegetables, creating a comforting meal perfect for family dinners or gatherings with friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bulb fennel (or leeks)
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 1 large yellow onion
  • 4 tablespoons butter (or olive oil)
  • 0.5 cups self-rising flour
  • 4 cups crab base (or seafood bouillon)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • 0.5 cups cooking sherry (or white wine)
  • 1 pound fresh crab meat (or canned/frozen)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and finely chop the fennel, celery, and onion.
  2. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Sauté the chopped vegetables for 5-7 minutes until soft.

  4. Gradually whisk in the crab base, heavy cream, cooking sherry, and half-and-half until well combined. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Fold in the crab meat and heat through for about 10 minutes without boiling.
