Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf French or Italian bread
  • 1 lb ribeye steak (or deli roast beef/chicken)
  • 8 oz provolone cheese (or mozzarella/American cheese)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 bell pepper (sliced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice onion and bell pepper; mince garlic. Thinly slice ribeye against the grain.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil or butter. Sauté onions and bell peppers for about 5 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Toss in sliced ribeye and Worcestershire sauce; season with salt and pepper. Cook until steak is browned.
  5. Cut the loaf lengthwise without cutting all the way through; hollow out some of the inside.
  6. Fill both halves of the loaf with the cheesesteak mixture and top with provolone cheese.
  7. Wrap in aluminum foil and place on a baking sheet; bake for about 15 minutes until heated through and cheese melts.
  8. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, slice, and serve warm.
