Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate candy melts
  • 1 tablespoon shortening (only use if using chocolate chips, do not add shortening to candy melts)
  • 1/2 cup Valentine’s Day sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Cream softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract and salt, then gradually mix in flour until combined.
  4. Chill the dough wrapped in plastic for at least 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. Roll out chilled dough to about 1/2 inch thick and cut with a heart-shaped cookie cutter.
  7. Place cookies on sheets, chill again for 20 minutes, then bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are just brown.
  8. Cool completely before dipping half of each cookie in melted chocolate and sprinkle before it sets.
