  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 baguette
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 or 8-ounce log of goat cheese
  • Maple syrup, honey, or hot honey (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and water until combined.
  3. Place bacon on the baking sheet in a single layer and rub both sides with the brown sugar mixture. Sprinkle with optional red pepper flakes for extra heat.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes, flip each slice, then bake for another 10-15 minutes until crispy. Cool on paper towels.
  5. Increase the oven temperature to 425°F. Slice baguette into ½-inch pieces and arrange on a separate baking sheet. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  6. Bake crostini for 7-10 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Assemble by breaking bacon into pieces and pressing into the goat cheese log on a serving dish; drizzle with hot honey.
  8. Serve alongside crostini for dipping.
